Fake guarantee.

I purchased a new band for my birdy watch in rose gold but it didn't match the watch and the watch prongs were bent so it would not attach. When I sent it back they said they would not exchange the bracelet as they claimed it was scratched. Ok, it was brand new packed in bubble wrap... If the item is that easy to scratch maybe that's on you...It was not in fact scratched. They just would not exchange. The watch was not ticking or keeping proper time but they didn't bother to fix it just sent it back with the prongs slightly bent to fit the strap. Shoddy dishonest customer service.

No real guarantee

I like the look of shinola watches and have enjoyed mine but their guarantee isn't worth the paper its written on and the watches aren't particularly robust. I decided to splash out on a rose gold watch band. The shade of gold when I got it was wrong and as my watch had become bent over time I couldn't make it fit in the watch. I sent the band and watch off to shinola. I wanted the band exchanged and the watch fixed. They said they couldn't exhange the band as it was scrated and a link had been removed. Not true on either case. It had never even been attached to the watch let alone worn. It was sent back in bubble wrap to the factory. The watch needed repairing and they sent it back unrepaired. Someone slightly bent the prongs so I could fit in the band but altogether a major disappointment. Wrong colour band and non working watch. Thanks shinola.

Very happy with this purchase

Very happy with this purchase. I went to their Detroit store. Excellent service. The watch is quartz movement. The leather is soft and good quality. Happy to support an American business. No issues.

Smoke and mirrors

At Shinola they are masters at marketing. They pride themselves on their Detroit based manufacturing. I hope the quality of their leather goods turns out to be as good as their marketing because they won’t divulge any information on the materials used in the manufacturing of their leather goods. They use worthless terms to describe their leather goods. Words like luxe, premium or navigator leather. Never really divulging any information regarding their true quality. When companies are this secretive more often then not they are attempting to hide something. Twice I have submitted a review on a leather dopp kit I recently purchased which they have failed to publish on their website. I doubt whether the quality of the materials used justifies their prices. The company has been caught misleading customers in the past when their slogan “Where American is made” was debunked and the company was forced to stop using it.
I’ll just have to see how my “luxe” grain leather zip travel kit fairs over time. But their lack of transparency on divulging basic information to consumers makes me suspect that it’s all smoke and mirrors.
